It Takes a Team - Join Our Volunteer Family!

RWJFA is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, and we can’t do it without you! Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization, ensuring that football and cheer run smoothly and remain a fun, rewarding experience for every athlete.

From game day operations to team management, every role plays a vital part in making practices, games, and events possible. Whether you help for a single shift or take on a leadership role, your time directly supports our athletes and helps create lifelong memories for them.

We know families are busy, and we truly appreciate any time you can give! As part of our community commitment, each family is required to contribute at least 4 hours of volunteer time per season. There are a variety of roles available to fit different schedules and interests, including:

Team Parent | Entire Season

The Team Parent serves as the liaison between coaches and parents, ensuring smooth communication and coordination throughout the season. This role is essential in keeping the team organized and fostering a positive experience for athletes and families. Responsibilities include managing the team snack schedule, coordinating team bonding activities to strengthen connections between teammates and their football/cheer peers, and assisting with end-of-season celebrations to recognize the hard work and dedication of athletes and coaches. This role is key to enhancing team spirit, communication, and a sense of community, making the season enjoyable for everyone involved!

Game Announcer | Home Games

The Game Announcer provides real-time updates and commentary over the stadium PA system, keeping fans engaged and informed. Responsibilities include introducing teams, announcing plays, calling out scores, recognizing sponsors, and maintaining a professional and energetic tone throughout the game.

Game Gate Attendant | Home Games

The Gate Keeper is responsible for monitoring entry points to ensure a smooth and secure game day experience. This includes ensuring that only authorized personnel, coaches, and players are allowed onto the field, and preventing unauthorized access. Additionally, the Gate Keeper enforces field regulations, ensuring that no food or drinks are brought onto the field, except for the team's designated water bottles. This role is essential for maintaining organization, safety, and the integrity of the playing area.

Chain Crew | Away Games

The Chain Gang is responsible for managing the down markers and yardage chains on the sideline during away games. This role helps officials track the progress of the game by marking the line of scrimmage, first down line, and down number. Volunteers should be prepared to move quickly, follow referee instructions, and stay focused on the game.

Additional Opportunities

In addition to game day roles, there are several other ways to support RWJFA Football & Cheer throughout the season. Volunteers can help run the spirit wear table, assisting with sales and distribution of team merchandise to promote team pride. Fundraising volunteers play a key role in organizing and supporting fundraising events that help keep league costs low and provide essential resources for our athletes. Additionally, we need volunteers to assist with team photo coordination, ensuring a smooth and organized picture day for players, cheerleaders, and coaches. Whether you have a few hours to give or can commit to a larger role, your time and support help create a fun, memorable, and well-organized experience for all athletes and families. Thank you for being an essential part of our RWJFA community!
